SOMATIC EXPERIENCING
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a gentle treatment that can
effectively resolve traumatic stress reactions to adult & child abuse,
assaults, surgery, life-threatening diagnoses, grief,
car accidents, falls, war, and other disturbing life events.
Somatic Experiencing is a naturalistic approach to the resolution
and healing of trauma developed by Dr. Peter Levine.
It is based upon the observation that animals in the wild,
though threatened routinely, are rarely traumatized. Animals
utilize innate mechanisms to regulate and discharge
the high levels of energy arousal associated with defensive survival
behaviors. These mechanisms provide animals with a built-in ‘’immunity’’
to trauma that enables them to return to normal in the
aftermath of highly ‘’charged’’ life-threatening
experiences.
EMDR: (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR is a powerful and effective therapy which can often release people from the negative effects of recent and long past traumatic experiences. EMDR combines bilateral stimulation such as eye movement, tapping, and sound, while simultaneously accessing the traumatic experience through many levels of awareness (sensory, thoughts, and emotions). EMDR is also effective as a skills building and strengthening tool.
DNMS: (Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy)
DNMS is a gentle and effective therapy that can be very helpful for people who feel stuck in patterns resulting from childhood issues. It uses imagery and bilateral stimulation to create and strengthen internal resources that help fulfill old unmet childhood needs (such as feeling safe and cared for).
